Turkish Institute of Statistics (TÜİK) has published statistics on real estate sales in May 2022, including foreign buyers.
According to the institute, 122,768 properties were sold in Turkey, twice as much (an increase of 107.5 percent) as a year earlier, but 7.73 percent less on a monthly basis.
Residential sales to foreigners in May 2022 in Turkey increased by 235.7 percent compared to May last year to 5,962 properties. The share of housing sales to foreigners in the total volume of sales transactions was 4.9 percent.
By the number of properties sold to foreigners, Istanbul leads (2,451 properties), followed by Antalya (1,885) and Mersin (264), surpassing Ankara for the first time in a long time.
During this period (May 2022), citizens of Russia bought in Turkey 1275 properties, Iran – 736, Iraq – 617, Germany – 247, Ukraine – 241.
